Murray, KY – Kentucky will feel the effects of this past weekend's storms for quite some time. Buddy Rogers with the state Emergency Management Agency says local authorities continue to assess the flood damage.
"As this water recedes, we're going to see major damage to our roadways, the infrastructure itself. We do anticipate large dollar figures in repairing our road structures."
The deluge also impacted Kentucky's farmland. On Wednesday Governor Beshear sent a federal disaster declaration request to U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack. A disaster designation would allow Kentucky farmer to access several USDA assistance programs.
