Little Damage in Hopkinsville

By Chris Taylor

Hopkinsville, KY – No homes were flooded in Hopkinsville this weekend, though numerous yards and several foundations collected pools of water. Mayor Dan Kemp tells the Kentucky New Era it's the first time a storm of this magnitude caused such minimal damage in the city. City officials credit flood control measures inspired by the last two major floods, as well as catching a lucky break in the weather patterns. Measures such as cleaning Little River and creating a drainage basin on Sunset Circle made the biggest differences in properly routing the storm water.
