Clarksville, TN – Tennessee Emergency Management officials have added yet another confirmed fatality to the list of victims affected by flooding and tornadoes. 20 bodies have now been recovered from the statewide disaster. TEMA has activated an Emergency Donations Hotline to accept contributions to support flood victims. Call toll free at (866) 586-4483. The Red Cross has opened some 28 shelters across the state to care for people displaced by the rising waters. In Clarksville and Montgomery County, some 350 are without electricity and schools are closed again today. This is the third day in a row area flooding has prompted officials to keep some 30,000 students home. The Cumberland River reached its flood crest yesterday morning and water levels have since receded almost two feet. National Weather Service projections estimate the river level in Clarksville will steadily decline, passing under the flood stage early Saturday morning. Many roads remain closed in the city and county as several area businesses and homes remain under water.
