Nashville, TN – Tennessee U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander wants the Senate to look into whether better information from the U.S. Corps of Engineers could have spared Tennessee millions of dollars in damages from weekend flooding.
Alexander spoke Thursday during a hearing of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, of which he is a member. He says it is a time for cleaning up and helping people, but also for asking, "What can we do better?"
Alexander says he wants to know whether better information about the release of water from the Old Hickory and Percy Priest dams could have prevented some of the flood destruction that is estimated will cost at least $1 billion to repair in Nashville alone.
