Nashville, TN – U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano visited Tennessee Sunday to see the impact of last weekend's floods close up, and says she was impressed by the way the state was handling the disaster.
Napolitano says so far, 16,000 Tennessee residents have registered with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which has completed more than 650 property inspections and approved more than $4.1 million in individual assistance.
According to the Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle, Napolitano says she expects FEMA will still be in the area in six months, with the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Small Business Administration expected to play large roles by then.
