Paducah, KY – Clarksville tire plant Bridgestone Metalpha continues business today thanks to help from the Paducah McCracken County Riverport Authority and Murray State University. The plant usually receives materials by barge and the delivers product to Nashville. Port Director Ken Canter says high flood waters stranded two barges on the Cumberland River. Riverport officials negotiated a plan with the University and Bridgestone Metalpha within hours. Workers unloaded coils from barges and stored them at the Murray State-owned storage unit on Irvin Cobb Drive. Coils were then reloaded onto trucks heading to Clarksville.
