Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson, who's seeking the Republican U-S Senate nomination, launched his 30 county bus tour Tuesday. Our Tony McVeigh caught up with Grayson in Maysville.
Secretary Grayson stopped by a popular, local deli to shake hands and conduct some "retail politics," as he calls it. But business was slow and there weren't many hands to shake. Maybe he should have held a rally. No, not really, says Grayson. "Rather than having rallies with folks who have already made up their minds, we've been doing a lot of just retailing. On the way up today, we stopped at a bunch of restaurants and general stores and barbershops and met a lot of new voters along the way, and I think that's a better approach - actually getting out and getting to those undecided voters."
Grayson disputes recent polling showing Bowling Green physician Rand Paul ahead by double-digits in the Republican primary. Grayson says internal polling shows it to be neck and neck, and on Election Day, he will emerge victorious.
Dr. Paul Monday in Lexington was sounding just as confident.
