Louisville, KY – The Green Bank of Kentucky was part of a discussion in Washington Thursday about the possibility of a national infrastructure bank. State Finance Cabinet Secretary Jonathan Miller went before the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures.
"A free-standing national infrastructure bank could be authorized to make long term, low interest loans or other forms of deposits to independent state green banks across the country. This would allow maximum flexibility for the states to meet the distinct and varying needs of their communities."
Through the use of federal stimulus money, the Green Bank of Kentucky loans money to state agencies to make energy-saving building improvements. Congressman John Yarmuth also voiced support Thursday of a National Infrastructure Bank.
