AT&T opens new store after Hopkinsville settlement

By Rebecca Feldhaus

Hopkinsville, KY – Workers have broken ground on the new Hopkinsville AT&T store. The once controversial expansion garnered a lawsuit between the city and AT&T which slowed progress last year. The parties settled in January. The city filed suit against the media provider to force them to gain a local franchise, because the company's new U-verse technology will also provide television service. The settlement did not require AT&T to purchase the franchise. Currently NewWave is the city cable provider. Mayor Dan Kemp says he is excited for new competition.
