Golden Pond, KY – Land Between the Lakes staff hope to have a majority of public areas open for Memorial Day Weekend, following recent flooding. Flood recovery and clean up efforts are ongoing.
Most major day-use facilities, such as the Golden Pond Visitor Center and Planetarium, are open, but some campsites, backcountry areas, boat ramps, roads and trails were still underwater on Friday. As the water recedes, staff will begin assessing and repairing sites and cleaning up debris.
The 170,000-acre national recreation area lies between Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake and offers more than 100 miles of trails for hikers and bike riders.
