Murray, Ky. – This Wednesday, Murray city officials will sit down for a mediation talk with the attorney representing 27 Murray firefighters suing for several years of back overtime pay. The discussion will include Mayor Danny Hudspeth, city attorney Warren Hopkins, and personnel/finance committee chairman Bill Wells. Houston-based attorney Rex Burch of Bruckner Burch PLLC represents the plaintiffs. Burch confirmed the lead plaintiffs in the case as Kevin Doyle, Kevin Munsey and Kenneth Reynolds. He says almost all his clients in this case are current employees of the City of Murray fire department, with a few retirees. The plaintiffs filed the lawsuit in September 2008 in Paducah's U.S. District Court. Last year, the Louisville Metro Government reached a $45 million settlement with hundreds of firefighters who had filed a similar suit over miscalculated overtime.
