Hopkinsville, KY – Incumbent Hopkinsville Mayor Dan Kemp held onto his position last night, with 57 percent of the vote. A little over three thousand voters turned out to cast their ballot. This was Kemp's first re-election bid. He hopes to improve on programs started during his first term, including a public safety campaign. Kemp will remain mayor through 2014. Kemp and his challenger Richard Covington are both Democrats. No Republicans filed to run. Hopkinsville has had a Democratic mayor since 1989.
