Clarksville, TN. – The City of Clarksville's Finance and Administration Committee has approved a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan. The Federal Emergency Management Agency requires the plan for the city to qualify for hazard mitigation assistance funding. The city's current plan (and that of Montgomery County and the school system) expires this fall. City grant manager Ron McClurg says the plan deals specifically with disaster prevention, concerning projects such as drainage improvements or the installation of levees. It is a top concern in the wake of recent flooding, which among the damage left the city's Wastewater Treatment Plant submerged.
