Mayfield, KY – Mayfield officials are seeking input on plans for a city budget surplus. Citizen's advisory board meeting attendees heard Mayor Arthur Byrn detail the budget this week. Currently the city is looking at a 1.9 million dollar surplus. Byrn says he looks at three ways the money might be spent, including a possible tax cut.
"Another way would be to invest in infrastructure, and in making sure that our services are public works and those kinds of things are adequately equipped to do their jobs and then there's also economic development and maybe incentives for existing or new business."
Byrn says city council members will discuss the proposals and probably have a plan by the fall. The next citizen's advisory board meeting is the third of five. The June 21st meeting is at May field City Hall.
