Middle Tennessee – Tennessee lawmakers want their congressional counterparts to investigate the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' release of water during historic flooding this month in Middle Tennessee. The measure urges the Tennessee congressional delegation to investigate the Corps' water releases and maintenance of dams and levees serving Tennessee and Kentucky. Dams throughout Middle Tennessee took on large amounts of water during the record rainfall May first and second. The Louisville division of the Corps aided the Nashville division in managing floodwater releases during the crisis. Carol Labashosky [lab-ah-SHAW-ski], spokeswoman for the Corp's Louisville office says she's not familiar with the investigation, but that "the Corps is open and transparent about our water management practices."
