New Airport Terminal in Jeopardy

By Chris Taylor

Clarksville, TN – A proposed new terminal at the Clarksville-Montgomery County, Tennessee Airport is in jeopardy after a $4 million grant application was denied. Airport Authority board member Jerry Clark tells the Clarksville Leaf Chronicle officials are working to revive it. The grant was considered a sure-thing because of the role the airport would play in supporting the upcoming Hemlock Semiconductor plant and recruiting other industry. The rejection letter cites a "lack of competitiveness based on no direct nexus to jobs and private investment. Clark says the denial doesn't make sense because the entire application was based on bringing jobs to the area.
