Nashville, TN – The Tennessee House has delayed action on revived legislation that seeks to place greater restrictions on the use of traffic cameras in Tennessee. The proposal was attached Thursday to a bill sponsored by Democratic Representative Charles Curtiss. However, he decided to delay the proposal to give lawmakers more time to review it.
Under the legislation, no local government can install a traffic camera after January 1st, 2011, unless adopted by ordinance or a resolution. The measure would likely take the place of a less stringent compromise bill in the House that was placed among bills to be considered once the state spending plan is set.
The companion bill has been sent to a joint study committee by the Senate Transportation Committee.
