Two other women remain hospitalized with gunshot wounds. Witnesses tell police 48-year-old Thomas Melton Black, Jr. approached a McPherson Avenue home late Friday and opened fire hitting three women. Sheila E. Woods died from her wounds. Later, according to police Black entered the home of his ex-wife, Tammy Carr, with a loaded 12-gauge shotgun. Jimmy Carr subdued Black, wrestled the gun away and placed him in a headlock. Police found Black unresponsive at the Carr's residence. Hopkinsville Police Department detective Jeff Woodall connected the Westwood events with the McPherson Avenue shooting five hours earlier.
