Madisonville, KY – Hopkins County Fiscal Court members will hear a first reading of the next fiscal year budget today. The proposed budget represents a $1.7 million increase over the current budget. Judge-Executive Donnie Carroll tells the I>Madisonville Messenger the figure is much higher because it includes grant funding the county expects to receive. In the current plan, some budget categories will get a bump, including the road fund and the Local Government Economic Assistance program. The court is scheduled to meet this afternoon at 4:00 pm in the Government Center.
