Springfield, IL – The Illinois House reversed course Tuesday and voted to borrow billions of dollars for government pension systems. The plan failed by one vote earlier in the day, but Democratic leaders persuaded Representative David Miller to change his mind.
Miller is the Democratic candidate for state comptroller. He says borrowing the money is more responsible than delaying or skipping a payment to troubled pension systems. The $3.7 billion borrowing plan is a key piece of the budget Democrats are putting together.
