Metropolis, IL – The state of Illinois has frozen a grant that would help pay for a planned bronze statue in Metropolis of Lois Lane from the "Adventures of Superman". The six-foot likeness of actress Noel Neill is shipping today after being crafted in Utah. Metropolis Tourism Director Angie Shelton says the almost $25,000 in grant money that would go towards paying for the statue was approved, but is now on hold. She says the state's fiscal difficulties are to blame and it's anyone's guess when the funds will become available. The statue comes with an estimated $65,000 price tag.
