Nortonville, KY – Nortonville City officials have denied the Hopkins County Attorney's request for the city's financial records. County Attorney Todd P'Pool launched a formal inquiry Tuesday and requested five years' worth of financial documents. Nortonville City Attorney John Whitfield tells the Madisonville Messenger the investigation is out of the county attorney's jurisdiction. Whitfield, who is running against P'Pool in the November general election, says the county attorney's action is politically motivated. Whitfield also expressed concern the new investigation would jeopardize one already opened by the Kentucky State Police.
