Cadiz, KY – The Cadiz city council votes tomorrow on a proposed alcohol ordinance. Council members have already approved the first reading of the ordinance and Mayor Lyn Bailey expects the second reading to go through without opposition. The General Assembly approved a classification change for Cadiz during their regular session. Among the advantages of a classification change, officials may collect taxes on alcohol sales. Cadiz's ordinance is expected to have a slight effect on the county's revenue from alcohol sales. Trigg County repealed prohibition last year. Since the first liquor store opened in January, sales tax receipts have totaled over seventeen hundred dollars.
