Paducah, KY – Jackson Purchase Energy says an equipment failure caused an area blackout around Paducah's Kentucky Oaks Mall Saturday evening. Vice President Izell White tells the Paducah Sun the equipment is part of the metering system that generates and transmits electricity. The outage affected about 1,500 customers, including the entire mall for about an hour and a half.
