Paris, TN – Candidates to be Paris, Tennessee's next Chief of Police are expected to interview next week. Current Chief Tommy Cooper is retiring in mid-July after about 16 years at the post and 27 years serving the department. Cooper's last day to physically be on the job is tomorrow, when he begins using up his accrued vacation and sick days. City Manager Jack Tarkington tells the Paris Post Intelligencer he will interview five candidates, three of which are local and two come from outside the county. No interim chief is to be appointed and Tarkington plans to announce the new hire sometime next month.
