Muhlenberg County – A former Muhlenberg County nursing home manager awaits sentencing after pleading guilty to mail fraud, bank fraud and submitting false statements. In an indictment announced Monday, U.S. Attorney David J. Hale alleges that 49-year-old Harold Lee Steele Jr. of Lexington failed to notify authorities that a facility resident had died. Steele, who managed the Poplar Grove Nursing Home, continued to collect payments for the deceased resident, estimated at more than $25,000, for nearly a decade. Steele could face 55 years' imprisonment and $2.25 million in fines.
