Fort Campbell, KY – The military reports insurgents killed a Fort Campbell soldier Sunday when his patrol came under fire in eastern Afghanistan. The Defense Department said Tuesday that 23-year-old 2nd Lt. Michael E. McGahan, of Orlando, was a combat engineer assigned to 187th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division. McGahan, a 2-year Army Veteran, is Fort Campbell's 27th soldier to be killed in Afghanistan since May 2008.
