Oak Grove, KY – The mayor of Oak Grove and around 100 residents plan to file a class action lawsuit against Christian County Public Schools. Mayor Dan Potter says school system officials have discriminated against Oak Grove by refusing to build a school there. Potter believes the discrimination is due to the county's transient military population. The population of Oak Grove is around nine thousand, with around 25-hundred children under the age of fourteen. The Kentucky New Era reports the city council had authorized legal action in 2008, but no lawsuit was ever filed. Christian County Schools spokesperson Regan Honeycutt says officials can't comment until they receive notice of a lawsuit.
