Metropolis, IL – Eighty-nine year old actress Noel Neill is in Metropolis today for the unveiling of the Lois Lane statue during the 32nd annual Superman Celebration. Neill played Lois Lane in the 1950's television series, The Adventures of Superman. Neill is a long time support of the Superman festival.
"Well, I think I've been here about, at least 8 or 9 shows. Probably more than that, I've never really counted them, but it's been a long time. We all had a very good time together."
The statue is located at the corner of 8th and Market streets, two blocks from the famous 15-foot tall Superman statue. The base of the Lois Lane statue contains over 300 engraved bricks. Residents and fans across the county purchased personalized bricks to help fund the 65-thousand dollar project.
