Lexington, KY – It appears bed bugs' are here to stay, at least for the foreseeable future. University of Kentucky entomologist Mike Potter is studying the relatively recent uptick in bed bug activity worldwide. Potter says the pests were a widespread problem across the U.S. in the 20's 30's and 40's.
"They used to be extremely common in everywhere from in hospitals to schools, movie theaters, moving vans, all manner of public transportation and we're seeing this again."
Potter says the best way to deal with bed bugs is to prevent them from entering the bedroom to begin with. He says preventive spraying is typically not very effective.
