Murray, KY – As a Kentucky eye doctor, GOP Senate Candidate Rand Paul accepts government payments for Medicare and Medicaid patients. The advocate for limited government has railed against what he sees as runaway federal spending.
The dichotomy has drawn taunts of hypocrisy from his Democratic opponent, Jack Conway. He says that when it comes to government spending that benefits Paul, deficits don't seem to matter. Conway on Tuesday called on Paul to quit "stonewalling" and release his Medicare billing records. Paul campaign manager Jesse Benton on Tuesday defended Paul's acceptance of Medicare and Medicaid payments. He says that to ignore the two health care programs would penalize poor and older patients.
