Cadiz, Ky. – The Kentucky Farm Bureau has named Trigg County native Joe Nichols 2010 Farmer of the Year. Nichols co-owns and operates Seven Springs Farms in Cadiz. He began farming ten years ago with 2,000 acres. Today, Seven Springs Farms covers more than 19,000 acres. Nichols is a five-time winner of the National Corn Grower's Association National Yield award. The Farm Bureau award includes $3,500. He will also represent Kentucky in the Swisher Sweets/Sunbelt Expo Southeastern Farmer of the Year contest, the South's most prestigious agricultural award. The winner will be announced in October.
