Kentucky and Tennessee – Kentucky and Tennessee both saw unemployment rates drop slightly between April and May. The Kentucky Office of Employment and Training released numbers today showing the jobless rate at 10.4 percent, down two-tenths of a point since April. Tennessee's unemployment rate for May was also 10.4 percent, down a tenth of a percentage point. Officials from both Kentucky and Tennessee attribute the improvement to temporary hiring by the U.S. Census Bureau. The national unemployment rate in May was 9.7 percent.
