Frankfort, KY – Kentucky's jobless rate has dropped somewhat, falling to 10.4% for the month of May. That's a decline of two-tenths of a percent from may of 2009. But Kim Saylor Brannock of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet says temporary federal hiring for the census was a key factor in the improved job numbers.
Brannock says temporary hiring in the private sector can be an indication that employers are hoping to increase the size of the workforce. The national jobless rate stands at 9.7%.
