Madisonville, KY – Hopkins County residents want to tear down their library and build a new one. That's the recommendation from a study that measured community support for the Madisonville-Hopkins County Public Library. The Community Foundation of West Kentucky presented the results to the library board yesterday. The Madisonville Messenger reports of the four options presented, survey respondents most wanted to rebuild the library in a new location downtown. The library had to relocate to the local mall last year after water damage was discovered in their downtown location. Only around half of the people questioned for the survey said they would support a fundraising campaign. Consultants had hoped for sixty percent. However, estimated total support is around one million dollars.
