Madisonville, KY – The Hopkins County School Board has approved the purchase of a site for the school systems new Career and Technology Center. The cost for the twelve acre parcel is $282,000. The board also approved hiring former business-education teacher Pamela Hight-Todd as the center's principal. When completed, the center will offer six vocational programs for students at Hopkins Central High School and Madisonville-North Hopkins High School. Career and Technical Coordinator Kitty Davis says the estimated cost of the facility has increased by a million dollars to $8.5 million, because officials increased the size and added another program. Tentative completion is set for August 2011.
