Metropolis, Ill. – Negotiations between the Metropolis Honeywell plant and the local United Steelworkers chapter ended without resolution last night. The contract was to expire at midnight. Honeywell spokesman Peter Dalpe released a statement saying Honeywell is "disappointed" that negotiations ended without an agreement. The statement goes on to say the union has indicated it will not resume negotiations until next week. In the meantime, the company is weighing its options. Dalpe did not elaborate on those options. The Paducah Sun reports that earlier in the talks, local USW union president Darrell Lillie said that while the union sought a raise for workers, Honeywell called for a 10 percent pay cut for union members and the elimination of some jobs.
