Washington D.C. – Kentucky Republican senatorial candidate Rand Paul stands to reap a campaign cash bonanza with the help of lawmakers who voted for the bank bailout he criticizes, flip-flopping on a promise to avoid those politicians in raising election funds. The libertarian-leaning Paul will benefit from a Thursday night fundraiser at the National Republican Senatorial Committee in Washington, D.C. Nine of 12 GOP senators listed on an invitation voted for the $700 billion bank bailout in 2008.
During the primary, Paul pledged not to accept contributions from any senator who voted for the financial bailout, even including the commitment on his campaign website - a vow since removed from the site.
