Bingo probe needs 4 months

By Todd Hatton/Paducah Sun

Reidland, KY – Commonwealth Attorney Dan Boaz says the investigation of Reidland High School's bingo operation needs at least four more months. Top officials from the Kentucky Department of Charitable Gaming met with Boaz for about an hour Friday. They briefed him on the case, including the timetable. Boaz says the officials wanted assurances that he would prosecute if laws were violated. According to the Paducah Sun, the investigation centers on at least $108,000 being unaccounted for in Reidland's bingo account, based on a comparison of bank account records and reports filed with the state. The discrepancies were discovered in August after a routine audit of McCracken County school system financial records. School officials immediately turned information over to state investigators.
