Nashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen has endorsed fellow Democrat Mike McWherter's gubernatorial bid. McWherter is the son of popular former Governor Ned McWherter. McWherter, who owns a beer distributorship in Jackson, is the lone Democrat running for governor after four other candidates dropped out. Three candidates are vying for the Republican nomination: Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam, state Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey of Blountville and U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp of Chattanooga. The primary is August 5th.
