Metropolis, Ill. – The nuclear-fuel producer Honeywell has scaled back operations at its Metropolis plant. Negotiations between Honeywell and the local United Steelworkers chapter ended without resolution Monday night. Corporate spokesman Peter Dalpe (DAL-pee) says, at present, union workers are continuing to report to work and are being paid. But amid the possibility of a strike, company officials feel it's too risky to run the plant at full capacity. Union representatives have yet to be reached for comment. Negotiations resume Monday.
