Nashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen has endorsed fellow Democrat Mike McWherter's gubernatorial bid. McWherter is the son of popular former Governor Ned McWherter. He is the lone Democrat running for governor after four other candidates dropped out. Three candidates are vying for the Republican nomination: Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam, state Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey and US Representative Zach Wamp. The primary is August 5.
