Clarksville-County Airport Audit Prompts Office Manager's Resignation

By Chris Taylor

Clarksville, TN – The office manager of Clarksville-Montgomery County Airport's Outlaw Field has resigned following a city audit that uncovered thousands of dollars in missing receipts and payments to an assumed fake company. Rachael Nelson resigned after airport authority board members reviewed the audit. County Mayor Carolyn Bowers tells the Clarksville Leaf Chronicle an investigation has begun. Auditors noted over $1,300 was paid to a company they could find no evidence existed among other mysterious charges. Over a year ago, an external audit found the Airport Authority lacked proper accounting oversight and there was an opportunity for fraud.
