Union City, TN – A plane identical to those used to train World War II cadets will be displayed at a Union City tourist attraction set to open in 2012. The Stearman plane has been purchased for use at Discovery Center when the Discovery Park of America 50-acre educational-entertainment-tourism complex opens in two years. Planes like it were used for training at the site in the city where a regional airport now sits. The multimillion dollar project was announced in 2007. A working grist mill also is planned for the site. According to the Union City Daily Messenger, the project is being heavily financed by the Robert E. and Jenny D. Kirkland Foundation.
