Fort Campbell, KY – A federal appeals court has upheld the conviction of a former Fort Campbell soldier for possessing an unregistered firearm. Randy Wayne Springer took a live rocket home from the base and stored it for four years until his wife reported it in 2007. Springer claimed because he was a soldier, the rocket was always in the possession of the federal government. Appeals judges in Nashville disagreed. Springer received three years probation for the crime. He remains in the U.S. army.
