Sedalia, KY – A Paducah man has received a Bronze Star for his actions in World War II. 85-year-old James Samuel Perry of Sedalia received his medal recently for leading a defeat of three Nazi squads that surrounded his men in March 1945. Perry's daughter helped her father get the recognition after her boss, a Vietnam veteran, said her father was eligible for the award. The Paducah Sun reports Ron McClure, of the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs, filled out and mailed the paperwork for them. Perry says he was only a small part of the war and he's just thankful he came home in one piece.
