Paducah, KY – McCracken County Judge-Executive Van Newberry is expected to propose subdivision development incentives to the Fiscal Court tonight. When laying streets, developers currently pay for two inches of base asphalt and one inch of surface asphalt. Newberry tells the Paducah Sun he'd like developers to pay for the base and the county will cover the surface. The incentive would be a good deal for developers, saving as much as $10,000 for every 1,000 feet of a new street. Newberry suggests this incentive would stay in place until the county's unemployment levels fall below 7%.
