Clarksville, TN – Clarksville City Council members yesterday approved a second reading of its $72 million budget and passed a tax incentive package to develop the former hospital site on Madison Street. A developer plans to build a shopping center at the site to be called Madison Street Commons. Demolishing the hospital is estimated to cost almost $2 million.
The Clarksville Leaf Chronicle reports the city will cap the property tax at current levels until developers can recoup some of the demolition costs.
