Metropolis, IL – Negotiations between representatives of the Honeywell nuclear materials plant in Metropolis, Illinois and the United Steelworkers Local union are suspended until the end of the month. A company spokesperson says July 27 is the next available date that both parties can agree to meet. Honeywell has locked out its union workers after contract negotiations failed. The union is picketing outside the plant on U-S 45, which is operating at partial production levels using salaried employees and temporary, replacement workers.
