Roadway advice

By Rebecca Feldhaus

Murray, KY – A spike work zone traffic crashes is prompting Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials to remind motorists of best safety practices. Public Information Officer Keith Todd reports since May 1st there have been 2 non-injury accidents near work zones in District One and 10 incidents in District Two, based in Madisonville. Todd explains.

"Normally in the almost 6 years that I've been here, we might have one incident like that per year and this year we've had ten or twelve in the last three months. So it's really raised our level of concern about the safety of our folks and our construction workers working for the contractors that are out there improving our roads."

Todd advises drivers to keep alert, slow down and expect the unexpected. This weekend, Kentucky State Police say they will increase patrols due to the extra holiday traffic.
